Major essential infrastructure projects present investment risks and opportunities in an asset class that continues to exhibit attractive fundamentals. In private assets, infrastructure is a significant component.

“L’institut de recherche Edhec Infra & Private Assets s’est penché sur le sujet. Dans un papier publié en 2023, il estimait que les investisseurs pourraient perdre jusqu’à 54 % de la valeur de leurs infrastructures non cotées à cause de la réalisation de risques climatiques d’ici à 2050. Les chercheurs ont depuis sondé des investisseurs en infrastructures sur ce thème. Il en ressort que si 97 % d’entre eux pensent que le risque climatique physique est significatif, les trois quarts croient qu’il aura un effet modéré à fort sur leurs investissements. Pourtant, les deux tiers des répondants n’ont pas mené d’évaluation de ce risque sur leur propre portefeuille.”

“The Edhec Infra & Private Assets research institute has looked into the subject. In a paper published in 2023, it estimated that investors could lose up to 54% of the value of their unlisted infrastructure due to the realisation of climate risks by 2050. Since then, the researchers have surveyed infrastructure investors on this topic. The results show that while 97% of them believe that physical climate risk is significant, three-quarters think it will have a moderate to strong impact on their investments. However, two-thirds of the respondents have not conducted an assessment of this risk on their own portfolios.”
